Saturday night DJ

In honour of two fave bands being inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame this week, here are a couple of their songs to get you through your Saturday night!!!

Hello james Freud!!!

Lars???

I'm thinking Ryan is on the wrong set. He has confused the DRIVE set, with the LARS AND THE REAL GIRL set!!! Here he is getting very familiar with the stunt dummy!!

How cute are these two? Apparently he just scooped Carey Mulligan up and swung her around.

Derby Day in Melbourne

Amongst the pouring rain, a ray of sunshine.....as Liam Hemsworth surprised punters by showing up at the races with his family!!!

127 HOURS

Wow..................exhausted after watching this one!!! 127 HOURS is the true story of Aron Ralston, and the mountain climber's remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage to free himself by cutting off his own arm. James Franco is fantastic in the lead role, and is pretty much onscreen for the duration of this film, both in the canyon scenes and via flashbacks. Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, The Beach, Trainspotting) directs the film, and as always, does an amazing job. There's not much to say about the actual story, we all know what is going to happen, and yet, when it does, you won't be able to watch. I didn't see anyone in the sceening I was in, fully watching the screen during the goriest scenes! Although, as James Franco kindly pointed out, Danny Boyle has been easy on the audience, in the film, it only takes a few minutes to cut off his arm (although it feels like 127 hours!!), in real life, it took Ralston about 4 hours!

The film shows scenes where Ralston films himself on a video camera, as a video diary of his ordeal. It is interesting to note, that these tapes actually do exist and have been shown only to a couple of Aron's closest friends. However, he allowed both Danny Boyle and James Franco access to them, to enable them to portray the scenario as real to life as possible.

Special mention goes to the beautiful Dr Andy Brown of Everwood (Treat Williams) who plays Aron's dad, very briefly!!!!

127 HOURS is not the easiest of films to watch, but if you are going to watch it, you should definitely do so on the big screen, to get the full impact! If you liked TOUCHING THE VOID, then you will definitely dig this one. Worth a look. It opens in Australia early next year.

Check out James at the London premiere of the film last night. Now look closely at the way his cardy is buttoned!!! Do you think it's meant to look like this?? He certainly just beats to his own drum!!!

I didn't get to watch GLEE tonight, as a matter of fact, i haven't watched it all this season, however i'm pretty sure I heard this song, and I love it. One of the prettiest I know!

Stop This Madness

I'm out for one evening and I come home to find that my colleague has gone nuts!! Not only has she gone crazy on the TV theme genre (admittedly all fantastic memories) but she even managed to sneak another gratuitous Ryan shot in.
I'm afraid this calls for an intervention - and regular readers will know what that means....
That's right - Mr Billy Ray Cyrus is in the building!!!

no, really.....

Had enough yet??

And why the hell not??

And of course......

with added dialogue for an early promo from Lorelai

A massive fave

I don't think i should have started this ...it could go on all night!!!! So many theme songs, so little time!!!!!

And remember this tribute to the show by Radio Birdman

A classic

What about this one???

I miss this so much

I was reminded of some old tv show themes today and it made me start thinking about some of my faves.

Don't you just love hearing this? I bet it takes you directly to a happy place!!!!

OH MY GIDDY AUNT...........

From the same magazine(Interview) and photograper(Mikael Jansson) that gave us this photo of Zac..........................

Comes this magnificent series of Ryan...................................

GOSLING: I should let you know before we get into this that the pictures which will be accompanying this interview are basically of me in tight, wet T-shirts and tiny leather jackets going around in the rain and pretending that I’m a lot cooler than I am.

Seriously....................................

THE LORAX

Possibly my favourite picture story book of all time is Dr Seuss's 'THE LORAX'.  Not only do I love reading it but when I was teaching we wrote the Lorax as a play for our Grade Three boys to perform.
In very, very exciting news, THE LORAX is coming to the big screen courtesy of the people behind Horton Hears A Who.
It just gets better and better because guess who is voicing Ted, (who goes in search of the 'Onceler' to find out why the world got so ugly)  MR ZAC EFRON!!!!!!!
Did these people decide to make the perfect movie just for me??
As you can see by the picture, Betty White is also on board playing Zac's grandmother.
Thank you, Thank you powers that be.

Have you seen THE TOWn yet?

If not, you must. What a seriously great film this is.

Written, directed and starred in by Ben Affleck. After watching this, you will forget about Pearl harbour, you will forget about Jenny from the Block, and you will forget about Gigli, Ben Affleck is back and deserves some serious film making recognition for THE TOWN.

The story is essentially a crime thriller, but its got heart and emotion and it takes you on a ride. I had heard it compared to HEAT, which is one of the best of this genre, and whoever compared the two, was right. This is a great film indeed. The story of four 'friends' who rob banks together, the FBI agent who is chasing them, and the girl who gets in the way!

You may have worked out, from previous reviews, but I am all about casting, and this is casting brilliance. Firstly and most importantly, cast yourself in a film you know will be great, good one Ben. Next, one of my girl crushes, Rebecca hall. I love this chick, she is beautiful and talented and I hope to see all future films starring her (if you are not familiar watch Vicky Cristina Barcelona or Frost Nixon). Jeremy Renner, who only popped up on my radar after seeing him in The Hurt Locker continues to impress as the bad ass bank robber. Even Blake Lively, is perfect in her role as a druggy, single mother. And Jon Hamm, as the relentless FBI Agent is sublime, I think the world maybe needs more Jon Hamm!

The whole bank robbing story is clearly not a new one, but THE TOWN makes it feel fresh. I left this film not wanting it to end, that doesn't happen very often.

GQ Glee Controversy

Ok I agree that Lea in particular is skating the fine line between art and porn but Glee is NOT a show for children and these guys are adults who are free to promote themselves anyway they see fit.  They do not profess to be role models and quite frankly if you are letting anyone under the age of about 15 watch this show then you should have a re-think.

Ryan

There are new photos of Ryan nearly everyday from the set of DRIVE, it's hard to resist posting all of them, but I will make a deal with you. I will post no more than every second day, unless there is something that is ridiculously good, that I truly must share!!!

A book in Borders

Picked up a book in the young adult section of Borders the other day, here is the synopsis....

"Clea Raymond has felt the glare of the spotlight her entire life. The daughter of a renowned surgeon and a prominent Washington DC politician, she has grown to be a talented photojournalist who takes refuge in a career that allows her to travel to the most exotic parts of the world. But after Clea's father disappears while on a humanitarian mission, Clea's photos begin to feature eerie, shadowy images of a strange and beautiful man—a man she has never seen before.
When fate brings Clea and this man together, she is stunned by the immediate and powerful connection she feels with him. As they grow closer, they are drawn deep into the mystery behind her father's disappearance, and they discover the centuries old truth behind their intense bond. Torn by a dangerous love triangle and haunted by a powerful secret that holds their fates, together they race against time to unravel their pasts in order to save their lives—and their futures."

I'm thinking, this doesn't sound too bad, have another look, and lo and behold, the book has been written by Hilary Duff. Now I think I want to read it because she wrote it. Am I a little bit silly? Think I might try it anyway! It has actually had some decent reviews. Has anyone out there read it and can enlighten me please.....

SUNSTUD's PICK

Gemma Arterton -
I loved her in 'Lost In Austin' playing the delightful Elizabeth Bennett but I don't think that is the reason Sunstud loves her!  According to him she is THE PERFECT WOMAN!  Big call Sunstud but here she is just for you...

How about a little Saturday night DJ.......

Dylan McKay Would Never Stoop So Low!

I knew that being a celebrity was not always all it's cracked up to be but this is going above and beyond...
Poor Luke Perry, but what a good sport.  Luke posed with fans recently at Dragoncon and I have to say these photos made my day.

His facial expressions are priceless, especially the last one - god I'd love to know what was going through his mind.

Ari Gold in Melbourne

Too exciting...Ari Gold hits melbourne for some Cup action next week. look out ladies, Jeremy likes to party!

Ryan and Carey

So in the month of split ups, there is talk that Shia and Carey are no more. This leaves a single Carey to drool over Ryan on the set of their new film DRIVE everyday. This match up I',m not opposed to. she is so cute! And I know I've told you this before, but if you haven't seen AN EDUCATION, you must. Stop reading right now, find yourself a copy and for goodness sake, just watch it already!!!
