I must say, on Wednesday, I wasn't massively anticipating seeing this film. I was excited to be going out with a bunch of fun chicks, but I have been left a little cold after the last 2 films, so wasn't expecting too much. I was interested to see how the film would differ to the others considering the director they had on board was a whole different kettle of fish than the last 2. David Slade has directed a vampire film before and is probably best known as a music video director, most notably Muse, is anyone seeing the connections here???
So to the film. In summary, the best so far. I wasn't sitting comparing the book or wondering when it would end, but was actually involved in the story. I still have some casting issues. In my mind the Cullen family are the most beautiful people you've ever seen, in the film, not so much. Kristen Stewart is a one trick pony, however she is probably not a bad match for bella. Edward? Still trying to think who would have been perfect for this role. Although i wasn't distracted by this in ECLIPSE. In the books, I am definitely Team Edward, after this film though, even diehard Edward fans, may be lured to the furry side. Jacob steals nearly every scene he is in. Not only does he have a very serious physical presence, but he has some great lines as well. We meet some new cast members and the Aussie actor Xavier Samuel, definitely holds his own on screen. The Duran Duran style makeup is not endearing, and I'm just not sure why the makeup department has had such trouble getting makeup and hair right. I honestly think that if you are a fan, you won't be disappointed. if you are not, then I hear the A Team is kinda funny!
I will actually be interested to watch this one again, unlike the last 2 where a second watch has proven to not be a wise decision, I think this one will hold up. For me, it's the love triangle, and even though I know what happens, my fave scenes were the ones involving our angsty lovestruck teen trio.
Another one down, 2 to go. Sadly, we must wait 18 months for BREAKING DAWN. Lock it in ladies!!!
How ACE was it!! I loved every minute of it! Jacob HOT HOT HOT and Edward, well Edward was just Edward wasn't he ... a bit romantic, a bit bland, and a bit whatever
ReplyDeleteGreat review K. What a great night out - I think the lead up was more fun than the actual film. Loved the light and shade displayed by Taylor Lautner which tends to be lacking in other characters. Also thought Charlie had some great lines. Found this one funnier than the other two thanks to these two.
ReplyDeleteNext midnight session - Harry Potter - Bring it on.
