Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon and actor Jake Gyllenhaal are still together, said their representatives, slammimg reports that the couple has split.

A source close to the pair had claimed that they have separated after a relationship of two years, People magazine has reported.

But Nanci Ryder and Carrie Byalick, who represent Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal respectively, said, "It is not true. They are still together."

The actors co-starred in the 2007 movie 'Rendition', and soon after started dating in real life.

The Oscar-winning actress has been with the 28-year-old actor ever since, without any ups and downs in their relationship. Indian Express

Remember the film WHITE SQUALL? I remember absolutely loving it when I first watched it. It was caned by the critics but what a ride it was. Hot young boys, adventure and tragedy! Of course Scott Wolf was the drawcard for me, but it also drew my attention to Ryan Phillipe, Balthazaar Getty (Tommy in Brothers and Sisters), Ethan Embry (Billy Ray n Sweet Home Alabama), David Lascher (Josh in Sabrina the teenage witch) etc

"White Squall" is the true story of a ship school called the "Albatross." The school is run by the captain, Christopher "Skipper" Sheldon (Jeff Bridges) and his wife, Dr. Alice Sheldon (Caroline Goodall). In 1960, the couple took aboard eight teenage boys from around the country for eight months of learning how to sail, be a crew, and respect one another. the crew goes through hard times and more laid-back times, but they must come together when a freak storm gets them in trouble in the middle of the ocean.

I'm wondering if it was a time and place movie or whether another viewing is required. Has anyone seen it recently? How did it hold up?

Amanda Seyfried is shaping up to be our must see actress in 2010. First there is the delightful looking nicholas sparks adaptation, DEAR JOHN, with Channing Tatum (see earlier post) and now this, LETTERS TO JULIET. Loving this cute trailer especially the use of Taylor Swift's song! Anyone recognise the male lead, not the spunky Gael García Bernal, but the other one. Chris Egan from HOME AND AWAY, another H&A alumni making good in the US. Little note, he was also in 2 eps of another fave EVERWOOD!!! Anyway, have a look and let us know if we should add it to the 'must see' list!

All this talk of Matt Damon's bottom in School ties has led to this week's retro Sunday. SCHOOL TIES is a film not that well known, but where I first really discovered Matt Damon. Although I was familiar with his one line in MYSTIC PIZZA, true love was not yet to be! I took myself off to see this film by myself in 1993, not really knowing much about it, but fell in love with it, and all the boys in it!

"Set in the 1950s, School Ties sheds light on the "true" nature of the old boys club. David Green (Fraser), a supreme athlete, is granted admission to an exclusive boarding school reserved for the country's blue bloods. Green hopes to use the school to get into Harvard, while the school uses him to win football championships. Everything is going as planned until a spoiled classmate Charlie Dillon (Damon), finds out that Green is Jewish. Given the time and circumstances, this does not sit well with his classmates. The movie comes to a climax when the classmates are forced to choose between Green and Dillon in a cheating scandal. The movie really highlights the religious inequality that took place at that time in America. One also comes to realize how the elite maintain their status and privilege by attending schools such as the one in this movie." synopsis courtesy IMDB.

I guess the star of the film is Brendan Fraser, who to be honest, has never floated my boat, but he is excellent as David Green, the outsider with a secret. Chris O'donnell, was also good, and then there was Matt Damon, who plays an absolutely hideously nasty kid, but you can definitely see his potential. The supporting cast also includes Ben Affleck, Cole Hauser, who also went onto to GOOD WILL HUNTING after becoming friends with Matt and Ben on the set, and of course there was a girl that was in a love triangle with the leads played by an actress by the name of Amy Locane.



Anyway, if you liked DEAD POETS SOCIETY and GOOD WILL HUNTING, you should give SCHOOL TIES a watch!

I think I am going to have to add this to our must see list. It stars James Van Der Beek (Dawson's Creek) and tells the story of FBI agent Jake Kelly's investigation of the brutal murder of a Taiwanese-American professor on US soil.

James has just won the Best Actor award at the San Diego Film Festival for his role in the film. Well done James - nice to have you back.
