There have been rumours of a sequel to HAIRSPRAY which has excited me no end. That means dozens more songs that I can belt out in the shower...Anyhoo, Nikki Blonski, who plays Tracy Turnblad, has recently said that a Hairspray 2 is definitely in the works! Yee Ha!!
Apparently Nikki revealed that Zac Efron, who played the heart throb Link Larkin, will be back, as will director Adam Shankman and writer John Waters.
There’s nothing listed in Zac’s imdb profile about it yet, though maybe that’s the “untitled” project at the top?
Anyway, the sequel, tentatively titled “Hairspray 2: White Lipstick,” will supposedly have a July 2010 release.
Sounds good to me - especially if they are smart and extend Link's role!
