BEASTS
If you have not seen BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD, please do so.
It is one of the most affecting, beautiful films I have seen in a very long time. It is like a visual poem that touches you in the rawest way and stays with you long after you have left the cinema. The performances by amateur actors are amazing and you will fall in love with Hush Puppy without even realising it has happened so quickly. It is so hard to use words to describe this film, so just go and see it for yourself and feel it instead.........
In a forgotten but defiant bayou community cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee, a six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality. Desperate to repair the structure of her world in order to save her ailing father and sinking home, this tiny hero must learn to survive unstoppable catastrophes of epic proportions

A little Ryan for your weekend..
He's been spotted today cruising around NY holding hands with Eva, after she giggled her face off on Ellen, and wouldn't say anything about him. Seriously, if you were shagging Ryan, would you not be standing on roves shouting it out to anyone who would listen?
He also has a new trailer out for his upcoming film, GANGSTER SQUAD. While this is not really Stars Hollow fare, of course i shall be viewing. Of note, is that the the most gorgeous Emma Stone, gets to pash him again. Is this fair?

The Deep Blue Sea
This film looks delightful! I have always thought that Rachel Weisz was beautiful, and i think this era quite suits her look. Not sure about the whole Mrs Craig thing though, never been a huge fan of Daniel. Anyway, synopsis and trialer below.
Hester Collyer (Weisz) leads a privileged life in 1950s London as the beautiful wife of high court judge Sir William Collyer (Beale). To the shock of those around her, she walks out on her marriage to move in with young ex-RAF pilot, Freddie Page (Hiddleston), with whom she has fallen passionately in love.
Set in post-war Britain, this adaptation of Terence Rattigan’s classic play, The Deep Blue Sea is a study of forbidden love, suppressed desire, and the fear of loneliness – but is at heart a deeply moving love story. Stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea, what – or whom – should Hester choose?

Girl In Progress - Trailer
Eva Mendes new flick has her starring as Grace, a single mom too busy to give her daughter Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) the attention she needs. At first glance this looked like your usual teen fare but watch the trailer because I think this one might surprise with it's emotional depth.

New "new Year's Eve' trailer
It's looking kinda cheesy, but lots of fun, with fun cast. Although a Heigl and a Lea Michele in the one movie might be a bit too much!!!!

LIKE CRAZY
This LOOKS ACHINGLY GORGEOUS.
Plot Summary: A love story is both a physical and emotional tale, one that can be deeply personal and heartbreaking for an audience to experience. Director Drake Doremus' film "Like Crazy" beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as thrilling and blissful as it is devastating. When a British college student (Felicity Jones) falls for her American classmate (Anton Yelchin) they embark on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated when she violates the terms of her visa. "Like Crazy" explores how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Picture at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and of the Special Jury Prize for Best Actress for Felicity Jones, "Like Crazy" depicts both the hopefulness and the heartbreak of love.

One Day - trailer at last
I want you to watch it first, before I give you my thoughts.....
ok, so I know I have been ridiculously excited about this film, I so loved the book, and the film had everything going for it. Amazing cast, the first poster is one of the best I've seen, but the trailer is leaving me a little cold. I love Anne, but the accent? Not so sure. And the trailer doesn't really flow or tell me much. Am I assking too much from a trailer or just been too excited too early. I'll watch it a few more times and see how I go.

THE HELP - trailer
This looks lovely! Based on the beautiful book of the same name stars one of my new faves, Emma Stone in the lead role.
Set in Mississippi during the 1960s, Skeeter (Stone) is a southern society girl who returns from college determined to become a writer, but turns her friends' lives -- and a small Mississippi town -- upside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families. Aibileen (Davis), Skeeter's best friend's housekeeper, is the first to open up -- to the dismay of her friends in the tight-knit black community. Despite Skeeter's life-long friendships hanging in the balance, she and Aibileen continue their collaboration and soon more women come forward to tell their stories -- and as it turns out, they have a lot to say. Along the way, unlikely friendships are forged and a new sisterhood emerges, but not before everyone in town has a thing or two to say themselves when they become unwittingly -- and unwillingly -- caught up in the changing times
