ROOKIE BLUE

We have been talking about this one for awhile after reviewing the first few eps a couple of months ago, and it is now coming to Australia. For those of you with Foxtel, click over to Universal channel 116 on sunday at 6.30pm and enjoy this great new show. Check out one of our girl crushes in action, Missy Perygrym, alongside the adorable Ephram Brown, Gregory Smith.

The Herald Sun review today says:
"I'm in love with it, and was right from the start. Instantly. You'll kick yourself if you miss this. It's deeply addictive."

Review - Rookie Blue

We have quite a few reasons to be excited about this new show - enough reasons to give it a fair crack and see if it is worth pursuing.
Number one reason is - Missy Peregrym.

Missy first hit our radar as the gorgeous Jackie Bradford in 'Life As We Know It', and followed that up as our favourite gymnast with an attitude in 'Stick It'.  She's sassy, she's gorgeous, and she's funny!  Nice combination.  We've been waiting patiently for Missy to grace our screens again so even if it's crap we're watching for Missy!

Number two reason - the always sweet Gregory Smith (and K's Facebook buddy)

If you haven't seen 'Everwood' then you really need to!  A favourite family drama at the Hollow and one which introduced us to Ephram Brown (Gregory) as the teenage son trying to cope with life in a new town after the death of his mother.  Brilliant.  When we heard that Rookie Blue not only featured Missy but Gregory also we were in TV heaven.

One of the items on the Star's Hollow Conference agenda was to view Rookie Blue so on the second evening we settled in for a couple of hours of Missy and Gregory - and I'm glad we did.  The show has been described as a police version of Grey's Anatomy and I can see the reasoning behind this.  In the pilot episode we meet a group of Rookie cops on their first day on the job.  'Training's over - life begins!' is the tag line and that is exactly what the show is about..
It is not a ground breaking police drama but it is a character driven show which has a lot of heart and light.  The characters are engaging, particularly Missy's character 'Andie', and you genuinely care what happens to them.
The show is filmed in Toronto and is slick and well made - obviously we weren't the only ones who enjoyed it as it was picked up for a second season after only three episodes had aired.  Looks like we get to see Missy and Gregory on our screens for a bit longer which can only be a good thing.

Our verdict - Thumbs up for some light drama with an appealing cast.  Definitely be tuning in regularly.

Rookie Blue

Rookie Blue, is a new Canadian tv series, funnily enough about a group of 5 'rookie' cops in a Canadian police force. It jumped onto my radar a few months ago when my twitter buddy Gregory Smith let on that he was filming it! It's now been picked up and will air in June (US and Canada only at this stage). The reasons that I am interested in it are some old faves, Gregory, who is an old friend from EVERWOOD (Ephram Brown) and Missy Peregrym, who we fell in love with during LIFE AS WE KNOW IT. Anyway, I wish them luck with it, it looks kinda fun!!

Good Girl Gone Bad

A dear friend of Stars Hollow, Gregory Smith has a new movie in the works and jeepers, it looks intense! Gregory described it as 'not for the faint of heart'.

Perry, a sheltered chemist, falls in love with Leslie, a former homecoming princess, when he is selected to be a jury member at her hippie death cult murder trial. Perry has always done what is expected of him. He was a straight-A student who got a good job at a chemical company and proposed to his Christian girlfriend, Dorothy. Leslie took a different path after she was traumatized by Kennedy’s assassination, an abortion and the divorce of her parents. She took LSD, joined a hippie death cult and helped murder a God-fearing citizen in her own home. When Perry and Leslie lock eyes in court, Perry is forced to confront the darkest parts of him and by extension, society. LESLIE, MY NAME IS EVIL is a film that explores how the choices Perry and Leslie make reflect upon the moral choices our society has made.

tv news

My new 'friend' 'Gregory Smith has been tapped to co-star opposite Missy Peregrym in the Canadian cop drama "Copper". Billed as "Grey's Anatomy" set in the world of rookie cops, "Copper" centers on Andy McNally (Peregrym), a newly minted cop fresh from the academy whose first day on the job doesn't go as well as she had wished. Smith will play Dov, another recent graduate from the academy trying to navigate his way as a rookie cop. Canadian Smith, best known for his role as Ephram Brown on "Everwood," And Missy is an old friend of the 'hollow', best known for her roles in 'LIFE AS WE KNOW IT' and STICK IT.

is it sad......?

Is it sad, that I am so excited about being twitter and facebook mates with one Gregory Smith, last seen as the angsty teen Ephram, on one of my fave dramas EVERWOOD?
