Review - Rookie Blue

We have quite a few reasons to be excited about this new show - enough reasons to give it a fair crack and see if it is worth pursuing.
Number one reason is - Missy Peregrym.

Missy first hit our radar as the gorgeous Jackie Bradford in 'Life As We Know It', and followed that up as our favourite gymnast with an attitude in 'Stick It'.  She's sassy, she's gorgeous, and she's funny!  Nice combination.  We've been waiting patiently for Missy to grace our screens again so even if it's crap we're watching for Missy!

Number two reason - the always sweet Gregory Smith (and K's Facebook buddy)

If you haven't seen 'Everwood' then you really need to!  A favourite family drama at the Hollow and one which introduced us to Ephram Brown (Gregory) as the teenage son trying to cope with life in a new town after the death of his mother.  Brilliant.  When we heard that Rookie Blue not only featured Missy but Gregory also we were in TV heaven.

One of the items on the Star's Hollow Conference agenda was to view Rookie Blue so on the second evening we settled in for a couple of hours of Missy and Gregory - and I'm glad we did.  The show has been described as a police version of Grey's Anatomy and I can see the reasoning behind this.  In the pilot episode we meet a group of Rookie cops on their first day on the job.  'Training's over - life begins!' is the tag line and that is exactly what the show is about..
It is not a ground breaking police drama but it is a character driven show which has a lot of heart and light.  The characters are engaging, particularly Missy's character 'Andie', and you genuinely care what happens to them.
The show is filmed in Toronto and is slick and well made - obviously we weren't the only ones who enjoyed it as it was picked up for a second season after only three episodes had aired.  Looks like we get to see Missy and Gregory on our screens for a bit longer which can only be a good thing.

Our verdict - Thumbs up for some light drama with an appealing cast.  Definitely be tuning in regularly.
