He's always been a hero of mine. In fact, when I went to Mann's Chinese Theatre, the only handprints I had my photo taken with were Clint's. Anyway, I just flicked over and PLAY MISTY FOR ME is on. A Clint classic. His directorial debut....and he is mighty fine!

THE HANGOVER PART II - the review
I loved THE HANGOVER. I hadn't expected to, but I laughed my arse off! Funny, smart, a little bit crude, but really bloody funny! THE HANGOVER II has laughs, but it's not the smart fun surprise of the first. For a start, there aren't any surprises! It's the same film, different location,. Fine, as it's funny, as was the first, but this time, the jokes and story aren't as fresh.
The story goes that Stu (Ed Helms) is getting married, his fiancee has Thai parents, thus the wedding is to be held on a lovely beach resort in Thailand. He of course, invites his besties, Doug (Justin Bartha) and Phil (Bradley Cooper), and is talked into including Alan (Zach Galafanakis) as a guest. He decides not to have a bachelor party, but gives in to one quiet beer on the beach with the boys. Of course, things go horribly wrong and they wake up in a seedy hotel in Bangkok, where they again are left to do the detective work to uncover what happened the night before.
What went wrong for me in this film, is that it felt like, instead of the clever funny stuff they delivered in the first film, the jokes are often of a cruder nature and seem to appear for shock value, which of course will get laughs for some. There is one joke in particular, that seems to be well overused!!! (if you watch the film, you will know what I mean) The thing I really liked about this film, was Bradley Cooper, dirty and dishevelled in Thailand!!!!!
It's definitely watchable, and if you liked the vibe of the first one, then you will like it. You won't like it as much as the first, but hey, there aren't too many sequels better than the original. This film will have a very successful opening weekend, and many will enjoy alot! It's a night out, with laughs and fun, but don't go if crude is not your thing!
Little fun fact 3 of the costars in this film have worked together in a previous film......FAILURE TO LAUNCH.....Brad Cooper, Justin Bartha and Crystal the monkey!!!
More On Jeff...
We have always been aware that Jeff suffered from addictions, famously going on Celebrity Re-Hab a couple of years ago but Jeff also claimed to have attempted suicide on 21 occasions. He was found unconscious on May 11, and is thought to have taken an overdose of prescription medication. He never regained consciousness and was taken off his life support machine on May 27. What a sad end to a life.
A piece of Jeff Trivia that I found fascinating was that after a brief first marriage, in 1980 he married the actress Rona Newton-John, sister of Olivia Newton-John. How did I not know that? They divorced five years later.

Freaky Fairytale
Jennifer Morrison (House) stars in the new TV drama - Once Upon a Time.
The show centers on Anna, a woman drawn into the small town of Storybrook where the magic and mystery of fairy tales may be real. Dark and faintly disturbing, it also stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White.
Interestingly the co-creator of LOST was involved in the development of this project. Maybe this could be my new Smallvillle?

Unaired Pilots - Buffy
Here's another pilot that had some tweaking before it finally aired. Check out the original Willow!
Pan Am
The ABC have a whole swag of new shoes on the way - one of them being PAN AM by the West Wing people.
Starring Christina Ricci among others, Pan Am is about the pilots and flight attendents who once made Pan Am the most glamorous way to fly. With shades of Mad Men, this looks like a gorgeous guilty pleasure of a show.

Brad Does Esquire
For those of you who are about to renew your acquaintance with Bradley Cooper in The Hangover 2 - Here is some B.C. eye candy...
Bradley is the cover boy for this months ESQUIRE magazine and I'm tipping the issue will fly off the shelves.
The Beek Is Back
A while ago we told you about a new pilot starring James Van Der Beek called 'Don't Trust The Bitch In Apt. 23'. Well in some good TV news it's been announced that it has been picked up by the ABC and will air soon in the US.
James stars as himself in what is now called - "Apartment 23" The sitcom revolves around the lives of two roommates on opposite sides of the spectrum who learn to co-exist in New York City.
One girl, June (Dreama Walker), is an ambitious, naive Midwesterner ready to reach for the stars and the other, Chloe (Krysten Ritter), is a charming con-artist who takes pride in her conniving ways, especially towards her roommates. Krysten is a Gilmore Girls alum so we get twice the joy.

Justin & Selena
You've got to give the people what they want and I happen to know that at least a couple of our regular readers are Beiber Believers and as I am fairly partial to the boy's girlfriend Selena Gomez I thought why not have a look at what the lovebirds are up to.
They've just arrived in Hawaii for a holiday but don't worry - they are both travelling with their parents so all is kosher.
By the way I need to say something about Justin's new tatt. I may be old-school but I thought ink was supposed be a little tough - the Beib's latest sticker reportedly says 'Jesus' in Hebrew! doesn't that defeat the purpose?
This tatt joins the tiny seagull he got for his 16th birthday (apparently his Dad and uncle have the same tatt).

Gilmore Moment
There is nothing better than a good Gilmore Girls rant - especially when Luke is on the rampage. Being a closet sci-fi dork, this scene always makes me giggle - Luke is sooo pissed off at the inaccuracies of the Star Wars script. Classic G.G.
Unaired Pilots
Don't you just love them - seeing a show the way it was originally planned. So bizarre to see well loved characters played by different actors or the scenes set in different places.
Here's the first one - SMALLVILLE. How different the last 10 years would have been with a different Martha!

Ryan is leaving Cannes
Off to Schenectady (yes, seriously! there is a place with this name!) He is filming "The Place Beyond the Pines," with Bradley Cooper (HELLO SANDWICH) the story of a motorcycle racer who moonlights as a bank robber to support his newborn son, will be directed by Derek Cianfrance, who teamed up with Gosling in last year's "Blue Valentine."
No Melancholia For Kirsten
Congratulations to the fabulous Kirsten Dunst for picking up the Best Actress Award at Cannes Film Festival for her role in Melancholia.
Kirsten thought her chances of winning at Cannes were slim after her director Lars Von Trier was made persona non grata by the festival's board after telling a press conference he understood Hitler and that he 'was a Nazi'. As you can imagine the film world was far from impressed.
Kirsten told the Mail Online that she kept thinking, 'Lars, shut up'.
She added: 'He's a great film-maker who, sometimes I feel should let his films speak for themselves.'
It is a fantastic win for Kirsten and will help her make a shift from main stream Hollywood films to more independent movies.
The big award of the night, the Palme d'Or, went to Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life which starred Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.

Magic Mike
'Dancing In Beaumont' alerted me to this film a while back but I have only just managed to get my chin off the floor to blog about it. Mr Alex Pettyfer and Mr Channing Tatum are teaming up to play strippers!! I KNOW!
In the movie Alex will play a young dancer who is taught how to hustle and dance by an older more experienced stripper played by Channing Tatum. The story is actually based on Tatumn's own experiences as a male dancer when he was 19.
I'm assuming that this means lots of 'shirts off' action by the boys. Nice.
Alex has been receiving heaps of bad press of late due to bratty behaviour on and off set but I'm not holding that against him just yet - not until after this film at least.
The film is being directed by Steven Soderbergh, (Oceans Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen, Erin Brockovich, The Good German) and is in pre-production.

Wildboys
I've just spent a lovely couple of hours watching 'he of the 1000 kilowatt smile' - Mr Dan McPherson. He always impresses me with his hosting skills, managing to entertain but stay sensitive to the feelings of everyone on the show... oh and then there's that dimple, that smile....
Dan has been sporting a beard for this season's Dancing With The Stars' which is due to filming a new series for channel 7 called 'Wildboys'.
There is nothing better than good Aussie drama and it looks like Channel 7 is really committing to Australian content which is fantastic - Packed To The Rafters, Winners & Losers, and now Wildboys. Here's what Channel 7 had to say about it....
“An Australian Western”, this new series is set in the 1800s and centres around a gang of bushrangers called the Wild Boys. The cast will include Daniel MacPherson (City Homicide), Zoe Ventoura (Packed to the Rafters), Michael Dorman (Suburban Mayhem, The Secret Life of Us) and David Field (City Homicide). Further cast announcements will be made soon.
Jack, Dan, Conrad and Captain Gunpowder are the Wild Boys –
Jack wants enough gold to head west and buy land
Dan wants enough gold to head west and buy women
Captain Gunpowder wants to be feared and famous
Conrad wants to elope with the Mayor’s daughter Emilia
The Wild Boys are making plans for the future – but for now they have to make do with each other as they stage hold-ups keeping one step ahead of the traps, trackers, and other outlaws.
Brilliant - BUSH RANGERS - can't believe it hasn't been done before - costume drama, the bush, Daniel Mac, what's not to love?

The Secret Circle
Based upon the book series by L.J. Smith (author of The Vampire Diaries book series), THE SECRET CIRCLE is the newest pilot to be picked up. There has been a lot of buzz about this show due to it's ties to Vampire Diaries and it's executive producer Kevin Williamson (Dawson's Creek, Vampire Diaries etc). I'm particularly interested due to two of its cast members. The lead role is played by Britt Robertson who won my heart in 'Life Interrupted' and our very own Phoebe Tonkin (H2O Just Add Water, Tomorrow When The World Began) also has a major role.
But quite frankly any TV show made from a young adult book has my vote and C.W. shows are always pretty so I'm in.
Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson) was a happy, normal teenage girl — until her mother Amelia dies in what appears to be a tragic accidental fire. Orphaned and deeply saddened, Cassie moves in with her warm and loving grandmother Jane in the beautiful small town of Chance Harbor, Wash. — the town her mother left so many years before — where the residents seem to know more about Cassie than she does about herself. As Cassie gets to know her high school classmates, including sweet-natured Diana (Shelley Hennig) and her handsome boyfriend Adam (Thomas Dekker), brooding loner Nick (Louis Hunter), mean-girl Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) and her sidekick Melissa (Jessica Parker Kennedy), strange and frightening things begin to happen. When her new friends explain that they are all descended from powerful witches, and they’ve been waiting for Cassie to join them and complete a new generation of the Secret Circle, Cassie refuses to believe them — until Adam shows her how to unlock her incredible magical powers. But it’s not until Cassie discovers an old leather-bound book of spells hidden in her mother’s childhood bedroom that she understands her true and dangerous destiny. What Cassie and the others don’t yet know is that darker powers are at play, powers that might be linked to the adults in the town, including Diana’s father (Gale Harold) and Faye’s mother (Natasha Henstridge) — and that Cassie’s mother’s death might not have been an accident.

Hart Of Dixie
It's been rather a depressing week for TV viewers with dozens of our favourite shows cancelled or winding up - Luckily there are some bright spots on the horizon. Another new show to join Sarah Michelle Geller's 'The Ringer' is 'Hart of Dixie' which also stars one of our TV favourites, Ms Rachel Bilson. we've seen her on the big screen but we haven't had a good weekly dose of Rachel since Summer Roberts left us.
Fast-talking New Yorker and brand new doctor Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) has it all figured out — after graduating top of her class from medical school, she’ll follow in her father’s footsteps and become a cardiothoracic surgeon. But when her dreams fall apart, Zoe decides to accept an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work with him at his small practice in Bluebell, Ala. Zoe arrives in this small Gulf Coast town only to find that Harley has passed away and left his half of the medical practice to her in his will. She quickly finds that Southern hospitality isn’t always so hospitable — the other doctor in town, Brick Breeland, is less than pleased to be sharing the practice with this young outsider, and his daughter, Lemon (Jaime King), is a Southern belle whose sweet disposition turns sour when she meets Zoe. Zoe’s only allies are the mayor, former football star Lavon Hayes (Cress Williams), her bad-boy neighbor Wade Kinsella (Wilson Bethel), and handsome lawyer George Tucker (Scott Porter) –- who just happens to be Lemon’s fiancé. Zoe is out of her element and ready to pack her bags, but a surprise visit by her snobby New York mother leads to Zoe’s decision to stay in Bluebell for a while, discovering small-town life and a side of herself she hadn’t known was there.
Now this one looks right up my alley - now if only they would cast Adam Brody all would be right in the world!

The Ringer
Love the fact that soon we will see Buffy back on our small screens. Sarah Michelle Geller has taken the last 2 1/2 years off for mum duty but now she's back in what looks like a very interesting new show.
In The Ringer Sarah Michelle plays Bridget who is six months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness to a professional hit. Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell), Bridget knows her life is on the line. She flees to New York, telling no one, not even her Narcotics Anonymous sponsor, Malcolm. In New York, Bridget reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan (also Gellar). Wealthy, pampered and married to the strikingly handsome Andrew Martin (Ioan Gruffudd), Siobhan lives what appears to be a fairy tale life — a life where no one knows that Bridget exists. The sisters seem to be mending their frayed relationship, until Siobhan disappears mysteriously, and Bridget makes the split decision to take on her sister’s identity. She discovers shocking secrets, not only about her sister and her marriage, but also about Siobhan’s best friend, Gemma (Tara Summers), and Gemma’s husband, Henry (Kristoffer Polaha). And when someone tries to kill Bridget in her sister’s penthouse, she realizes she is no safer as Siobhan than she is as herself.
Sounds fabulous and very 'film noir'.

One Tree Hill
Could it be possible? There is talk that now that OTH is coming into it's final 13 episodes there is a chance that Lucas and Peyton may make a return. How fantastic. While I'm sad that OTH is coming to an end, it has had a great run and at least we have one more short season to watch.
Fingers crossed that Hilarie Burton and Chad Michael Murray can clear their schedules to make an appearance in Tree Hill.

The Boys
The Supernatural boys hanging with the Smallville boys. Before Jensen was a Winchester he lived in Smallville so I'm sure they had a lot to catch up on.
(The fact that Jared lived in Stars Hollow wins out every time though.)
