OMG OMG - Tom's Got A Movie

Well this has made my week... not only are we going to see Erica Durance back soon but Tom Welling has been cast to play the lead in Ben Affleck's adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel "A Dog's Ransom".  Ahhh Tom, it will be good to see you again.

Ben Affleck will be directing from a script by Justin Theroux based on the novel, and Tom will be starring alongside Leighton Meester and Hugh Laurie.

Here's a bit of an idea of what it's about -

"One day, publishing house executive Ed Reynolds finds a disturbing ransom note in the Manhattan apartment he shares with his wife: "Dear sir: I have your dog, Lisa. She is well and happy... I gather she is important to you? We'll see." As the couple slowly realise the predicament they're in, it becomes painfully clear that an ambitious kidnapper really has hit them where it hurts..."

Apparently Tom is not playing the publishing executive but a young police officer who becomes obsessed with rescuing the kidnapped dog and bringing justice to the kidnapper.

Monte Carlo

Cool Rider here - As you probably know I love a good teen movie, in fact it really doesn't even have to be that good quite frankly.  I've just been watching the trailer for 'Monte Carlo' which is due out in the middle of the year and I think I've found a gem (as far as teen chick flicks go!)

It stars one of my favourite young ladies - Miss Selema Gomez and has the added bonus of Corey Monteith (Glee). It even has Nicole Kidman as a producer (knew I could slip a Keith Urban reference in somewhere) 

It is the story of three young girls (Katie Cassidy , Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester) who use their savings for a dream trip to Paris, which turns out to be a big disaster. When they decide to take a break from their lousy tour and sneak into the lobby of a 5-star hotel, one of the girls is mistaken for a spoiled British heiress. Before they get the chance to reveal their true identities, the girls are wrapped up in a whirlwind of paparazzi, couture gowns, storybook romances, and living the glamorous life in Monte Carlo.

Now tell me that doesn't sound fantastic!!!

Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester doing a very good impression of siblings. They are not related but they are in a film together called THE ROOMMATE. Trailer below. It looks a little SINGLE WHITE FEMALE for the new decade/century, but with a cute cast!

I have just watched an interview with Leighton Meester, or probably better known to you as Blair Waldorf from GOSSIP GIRL. As you are most probably aware, she plays the ultra rich snobby brat who lives on the upper east side in NYC, what I have just learned is that nothing could be further from the truth for leighton's real life. She was born in jail to a mother and father , who were involved in a drug ring that smuggled marijuana from Jamaica to the United States. Both were arrested for their involvement in the ring, and Connie was released on bail. While out, Connie became pregnant, and once she was convicted, she spent her pregnancy in a Texas state prison. Leighton was delivered in a Texas hospital, and Connie was allowed to live with Leighton in a half-way house for three months. Connie was sentenced to ten years in prison, and once her three months with Leighton were up, her newborn was sent to live with a relative. After sixteen months of her sentence, Connie was released and resumed her role in her newborn's life. Leighton has always been adamant in maintaining that she has no hard feelings towards her parents for what they did in the past, and she has repeatedly said that her mother Connie is one of her best friends.

It is pretty hard to see past Blair the character, but Leighton actually seemed like a really sweet grounded girl! (who by the way is naturally blonde!) and it just goes to show that humble beginnings can lead to big thngs!
