Fave films of 2010

Don't tell Cool Rider I have been so slack with posting since she has been away!!! At least i've covered the majors..pregancies, engagements, marriages and a bit of Ryan!!!

As a little goodbye to 2010, here is a list of some of my fave films of the year. this is in no particular order, as i always find it hard to pick just one!!

ANIMAL KINGDOM - this is a great Aussie film. it's the type we do so well. it's a tough watch, and fairly violent, but mesmerising at the same time. The performances are fantastic and i found Ben Mendelsohn's portrayal of 'Pope' absolutely menacing and convincing.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT - I love this type of film. Brilliant cast, great acting, well written. A great night out at the flicks and Vampire Weekend on the soundtrack!

EASY A - this flick was so well written, with smart dialogue and many 80's references, and it introduced me to my newest girl crush, Emma Stone. Can't wait to see more of her in the future. It also let me get to know another new fave chick Aly Michalka form Hellcats a little better and my dislike for ∂an Humphrey, eased slightly, he was kinda cute as the beaver (was that what he was, can't remember now!) And the film is totally worth watching just for the performances of patircia Clarkson and Stanley tucci!

THE LAST SONG - was absolutely adorable. Bawled my eyes out and fell in love all at the same time!!!

Ahhhhh....lovley Liam!

HARRY POTTER 7 - of course, except the weird fantasy scene in the forest with hermione and harry, that kinda freaked me out!!!

DEAR JOHN - why not!!!! switch off the brain, shed a tear, enjoy the joys of a hot bogan!!!

CHARLIE ST CLOUD - This is really a whole other category. Best film moment of the year. Who knows if the film was actually any good, we watched in the presence of the man himself, Zac Efron! My loins are limbering just thinking about it!!!!

HURT LOCKER - yes, it was 2010. Great film!

THE TOWN - Ben Affleck, the comeback king. Written, directed and acted in this ripper crime thriller. If you haven't seen it, catch it when it's out on DVD. Definitely worth a look.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK - What an excellent film. Topical, fascinating, brilliant acting, directing and such clever dialogue. This film introduced me to the delights of Andrew Garfield, of whom I am now looking very forward in seeing in some future projects!

and of course BLUE VALENTINE. I know there are some of you that are Gosling lovers that are not necessarily loving this film, but I think the more distance you have from it and can appreciate the amazing performances of Ryan and Michelle, then I think you will love it! Or am I really just too biased to even watch a film with Ryan in it and not love it!

So there you have it. i know i will have forgotten some and I know there are others that I loved, but maybe not quite as much as these ones!!!

CHARLIE ST CLOUD - The film

Well apparently we were actually in sydney to watch a film as well. So here's the review. Admittedly, it is hard to be unbiased after being 3 feet away from the star of the film that you are completely in love with, but I will give it my best shot.

Well firstly, Zac is definitely the star of this film, and He carries it well. He looks good, (clearly no argument from me there) and he acts well. The script is not always particularly engaging, but he certainly is. he is playing a complex character who is carrying around the guilt of his brother dying in a car accident and whom he can now see and converse with. "I see dead people'! He does have a love interest in the film, the lucky actress, Amanda Crew, does a nice job, and is pleasantly not totally hollywood and beautiful, so the relationship feels real. The lucky lady does get to share some great moments with Zac.

If you are watching this film because you are a fan of Kim Basinger, don't bother. She is onscreen, for no more than 5 minutes, so neither adds nor detracts from the film. Ray Liotta is much the same. For me, the standout co stars were the boy who played his little brother Sam, and the guy who played his mate. This English actor's name is Augustus Prew, and although his face looked kind of familiar, I could not place him. I now know him to be 'Ali' from ABOUT A BOY, the really annoying kid who was Rachel Weisz's son. He has come a long way and was great fun to watch onscreen. Special mention also goes to Dave Franco's brief role in which the gorgeous Franco smile is alive and well.

The film is flawed, and there are a few questions i would have liked to ask the storytellers. many to do with the afterlife stuff and also why did his mum leave him in his hour of need?
The setting is absolutely gorgeous, and captured superbly on film. Almost one of the character's of this film. The film is an emotional ride. You will enjoy this film if you like Zac Efron , if you like a pretty film, if you are interested in the afterlife and did I mention Zac?

My totally biased eyes loved this and I'll more than happily venture along again for another viewing. LIVE. LOVE. LET GO.

CHARLIE ST CLOUD - Sydney Premiere

So there we were, in downtown Parramatta on a Sunday afternoon, with 2000 screaming girls, Awaiting the arrival of our handsome young friend Zac Efron.

We were just jostling with others to enter the red carpet to take our seat in the cinema, when up drives a black Audi, and out of that Audi, after taking a last sip of water, Zac disembarked to the roar of 2000 squeals of delight. (one of those squeals may have been mine, it;s hard to recall what went on in my excited state). Zac, known for his generosity on the red carpet, immediately started signing autographs and mingling with the crowd that had been gathering since 6am in the morning. We moved along the carpet just behind him, and eventually got ushered past him as he was interviewed by Charli from Hi-5! We moved into the cinema and watched his red carpet journey on the big screen. The excitement built, the slappers got restless and Cool Rider kind of checked out! Weird!! Anyway, after a good 45 minutes, we got the inside word that he was entering via the side door, so with eyes fixed, we sat poised. Finally, the announcement that Zac was just behind the door, and then, there he was, right in front of us. (a little history on our zac premiers this was the 3rd premiere attended , and the 3rd that we had secured front row seats. Nice work ladies!) He spoke eloquently, he was fun, he was grateful for his fans, just gorgeous really. And so, our crush continues, he certainly did not disappoint.

Let's just say...it didn't disappoint!

6 More Sleeps

As you know we are off to Sydney on the weekend to indulge in our favourite pass time - Zac Watching (some may call it unhealthy stalking but we maintain otherwise) .
I am becoming a little concerned that K and I may irreparably damage our reputations by becoming overwhelmed and behaving inappropriately when Zac enters our orbit,  therefore I have been trying to desensitize myself by watching footage of the boy in the hope that I will be completely 'ho-hum' by Sunday.
Judging by the excessive drooling and elevated heart rate I'm going to assume that so far it is not working.
I will perservere and let you know how I'm going.... I'm not confident though.

Check this out and tell me you aren't trembling slightly at the knees!!
