Rock of Ages will follow the basic plot of the stage show, which is set in the Bourbon Room rock club on LA’s Sunset Strip, which is threatened with demolition by a pair of developers looking to gentrify the place (sounds a littl Burlesque to m). Julianne Hough, Mary J Blige and Tom Cruise are locked on board and, after being linked to the film for a while, Russell Brand has officially signed a deal to co-star.
And now we have a leading man - Mexican actor/singer Diego Boneta. Who in Shankman's words is as perfect for the role as Zac in Hairspray or The Chan in Step Up. Big call but immediately has me very interested.
Those of you who are addicted to teen TV may recognise Diego from 90210 or Pretty LittleLiars, or even Mean Girls 2!
This is definitely one I will watch with interest.
